*Summer Registration is based on the current 2020/21 school year/grade. For example, a player in 4th grade for the current school year should still register for the 3rd-4th grade division for the summer season.*
SIBLING DISCOUNT: If you are signing up two or more siblings for the same season, please email Cara at Service@MasterSports.com to receive the sibling discount. Requests for a sibling discount must be made prior to registration, and cannot be honored after registration is already complete.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, some league-specific details are not yet certain at this time and may change by the time the Summer 2021 basketball league starts. Unlike our normal league seasons, we do not plan on scheduling skills assessments for the summer season and will instead rely on notes and information from previous seasons in addition to information provided by parents to create the most balanced teams possible within each division. As of March 8th, 2021, we anticipate the most likely scenario being a traditional league format for the summer season but having both practices and games for all teams played outdoors. Should regulations change and allow for indoor game play to happen, the league would move all games indoors (practices still outdoor) for the summer season. Lastly, should actual game play remain disallowed by city and/or state regulations, the summer 2021 season would have a somewhat similar format to our recent Winter Street Hoops training program. In this scenario, players would remain in their pod/teams for the duration of the season and practice once a week in addition to once a week scrimmages within the pod/team. Should the summer season start under the "Street Hoops" format, we would immediately shift to gameplay among different teams as soon as local regulations allow for that change to happen.
MANDATORY SKILLS ASSESSMENTS:
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we will not hold skills assessments for the Summer 2021 season in order to avoid large gatherings as much as possible. Instead, Master Sports will organize and create teams on our own using notes from previous seasons in addition to information provided by the parents/family of basketball players. Once you have registered your child for the season, please send an email to Ryan Conroy at Ryan@MasterSports.com with the following information:
1. Player Name
2. League Location and Division (ex. Carmel Valley 3d-4th Grade Boys)
3. Most recent season your child has played in the traditional league format with Master Sports (ex. Carmel Valley Fall 2020 1st-2nd Grade Coed)
4. Height of your child in feet and inches
5. Estimated Skill Level: for this, please use a 1 through 9 scale (representing draft rounds). On this scale, a "1" rank would be a 1st round skill level player who would be the best player on a team in a recreational league format. A "9" would be a beginner level player who would be the least experienced player on a team. Players in the "4" to "5" range would be more middle of the pack in regards to skill level in a rec league format.
No Refunds or Credits After June 1st, 2021, No Exceptions!
Coaching: The recreational divisions are dependent on parent-volunteer participation. High School student volunteers may also participate, but parents always have priority to coach. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to coach your child’s team! Please email Ryan Conroy at Ryan@MasterSports.com with the division and location you wish to coach for the upcoming season.
Practice Info: Practice days/times are determined by coaches of individual teams. Coaches will not know their preferred day/time until they have drafted a team and have discussed possible practice times with parents of players on their teams. Players cannot be moved to different teams due to practice schedule conflicts. Practices are usually held in the late afternoons to early evenings on weekdays, but are again determined by coaches of individual teams.
Game Days: Games will most likely be played on Friday evenings and/or Saturday afternoons at Carmel Valley Rec Center and/or Pacific Highlands Ranch Rec Center (subject to change).
Team Formation: All teams are formed via a draft process. All players must attend the skills assessment where coaches evaluate players in preparation for the draft. Siblings are guaranteed to play on the same team unless otherwise requested.
Uniforms/Jerseys: All players for all divisions will receive a reversible jersey to wear for each game, and a pair of shorts. Players will keep their jersey and shorts at the end of the season.
Season Awards/Trophies: For all divisions where score is kept, players on teams that finish 1st place or 2nd place will receive a trophy. Players on teams eliminated prior to the championship game will not receive a participation medal. All players on teams in Kindergarten or 1st-2nd grade divisions receive a participation trophy.
PICTURE DAY: Date and Time Will Be Posted Here
Printable Order Form: Please plan on arriving roughly 45 minutes prior to your scheduled game time on your team’s picture day (whichever day out of the days listed above that your team plays is your picture day). As soon as you and your child arrive, please check in at the picture table and take individual photos. Once the entire team is present, please take the team photo. Pictures are not included with season registration; any desired photos/packages will need to be ordered through PBM Images on picture day.
